Overview

The Bachelor’s degree provides in-depth training in both the physical/mathematical fundamentals and in the disciplines characterizing information engineering: control systems, electronics, telecommunications, computer science and bioengineering. The educational objectives are distinguished by a methodological and multidisciplinary training approach which enables to acquire skills in information and communication technologies (ICT) based on a solid physical/mathematical background.
At first, the programme offers fundamental and cross-cutting theoretical course units. As students progress, specializing courses, including high-tech equipped laboratory units, can be chosen within a large list, to create personal, focalized or broad-spectrum training.

Programme structure

- 1st Year (all course units are compulsory): English B2 level (if not already possessed by the students), Mathematical analysis 1, Introduction to computer science, Linear algebra and geometry, General physics 1, Digital systems

- 2nd Year (all course units are compulsory): Data structures and algorithms, General physics 2, Mathematical analysis 2, Circuit theory, Introduction to machine learning, Probability theory, Signals and systems.

- 3rd Year
Compulsory course units: Control theory, Electronics, Telecommunications.
Course units to be chosen by the student:
List 1 – Algorithms for engineering, Information transmission media (at least 1);
List 2 – Biomedical technology and instrumentation, Systems and models, Finite state systems, Computer networks, Internet and security, Digital signal processing, Microcontrollers and DSP, Integrated circuits (at least 2);
List 3: Computer engineering laboratory, Internet and multimedia laboratory, Signals and measurement laboratory, Bioengineering laboratory, Control engineering laboratory, Microelectronics laboratory, Optics and photonics laboratory (at least 2).

The programme is a study track – held completely in English – of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Ingegneria dell’Informazione

Career opportunities

This Bachelor’s degree grants access to all Master’s degree programmes in the area of ICT, in Italy and abroad. Three Master’s degrees (Computer Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, ICT for Internet and Multimedia) are also offered, in English, by the same Department. As well, graduates can find professional employment in all areas of ICT, in enterprises or in the public sector.
