Overview

The three-year programme in Animal Science and Technology originates from the needs that the Veneto territory expresses towards the animal production and the whole agro-food chain. Specifically, the objective of the course is to graduate students with solid technical skills in the field of livestock management, accounting specific knowledge in the fields of animal nutrition and feeding, animal breeding and genetic resources management, and animal reproduction of different livestock species, including also sport animals. The specific teaching activities are therefore in the fields of animal genetics and breeding, animal nutrition, animal reproduction, animal hygiene and disease prevention, and general animal management in livestock and sport animals. This complex of teaching activities is furtherly integrated with education toward the general agronomy, the crop science and forages production, the economy of farm management, and the herd and farm mechanization. All these knowledges are additionally combined with a solid scientific culture aiming at giving to the three-year Graduate in Animal Science and Technology the ability to solve technical-managerial problems in the field of animal production with a view on the animal sustainability, the ecological compatibility and the market globalization aspects.

Career opportunities

The graduate in Animal Science and Technology will be involved in the management of farms accounting different livestock species and sports animals, combining the most modern technical criteria of production with the sustainability, the ecological compatibility and the market globalization processes. The Graduate’s professional activities will be carried out mainly in farms and industries belonging to the feed and food of animal origin chains. The Graduate in Animal Science and Technology will be able to operate in public and private companies dealing with livestock breeding and production, as well as in companies associated with the production of feeds, raw materials, and implants for livestock farming. Graduates can also operate as private consultant for farms after a specific examination for freelance.
